Does acupuncture hurt?  Treatments are not meant to be painful. Many sensations can occur when receiving acupuncture. Descriptions that I hear most often from patients are a feeling of warmth, tingling, a dull ache or a traveling sensation. Relaxation is probably the most significant reoccurring feeling, as many people fall asleep or enter that magical in-between-sweet spot, my personal favorite!

How many treatments will I need?  Estimated average: Acute conditions 6 treatment and 10 or more for chronic. Everyone is different. Considerations include duration and complexity of the condition combined with the physical health and lifestyle of someone.

When will I get relief: Often after the first treatment in acute conditions. Chronic conditions may take a little longer.

How should I prepare for my first treatment?  Please complete the new patient paperwork sent to you by email and submit it before your first appointment. Please eat a light meal or snack an hour or two before your treatment. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can be rolled up. If necessary gowns and drapes will be used.

What type of needles do you use?  Sterile, single use, surgical stainless-steel needles are used. These needles are solid, unlike those in the doctor’s office that draw blood or inject fluid, and they are exceptionally small for quick painless insertion.
